Tom Amick is the Chairman of Discovery Laboratories as well as Chairman and CEO of Aldagen. Previously, he led a highly successful 30 year career with Johnson & Johnson. After starting the biotechnology/oncology business within J&J, he advanced to the position of Vice President of the Oncology Franchise where he developed one of the most successful businesses in the history of J&J. Mr. Amick held positions of increasing responsibility including, President of Janssen-Ortho, President of Ortho Biotech Europe, and Vice President of J&J Development Corporation.
Frank Baldino, Jr., Ph.D. is Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Cephalon, Inc. He was previously a senior research biologist in the medical products department at E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Company. Dr. Baldino is currently a Director of PhRMA, NicOx, S.A., ViroPharma, Pharmacopeia, the Biotechnology Industry Organization, Acusphere. and the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce. He is Co-Chairman of PA Bio and Chairman of BioAdvance (Biotechnology Greenhouse Corporation of SE Pennsylvania).
Paul Brucker, M.D. is the President Emeritus of Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Brucker was the President of Thomas Jefferson University from 1990 through 2004. He also served as Chairman of the Board of Jefferson Health System during the same time period. Previously, Dr. Brucker served for 17 years on the faculty at Jefferson Medical College and Thomas Jefferson University.
Gerard N. Burrow, M.D. is Chairman of the Board of the University of Connecticut Health Center and a Trustee of the University of Connecticut. He is also on the Board of the Sea Research Foundation, which includes the Mystic Aquarium and the Institute for Exploration. Dr. Burrow is Dean Emeritus and David Paige Smith Professor of Medicine Emeritus of the Yale University School of Medicine. He was previously Dean of the Yale University School of Medicine. He served on the Board of Directors of Johnson & Johnson from 1993 to 2005.
Richard E. Caruso, Ph.D. is Chairman of Integra LifeSciences Holdings Corporation. Integra develops, manufactures and markets medical devices, implants and biomaterials. Previously, he served as Integra's CEO and President. From 1969 to 1992, Dr. Caruso was a director and Executive Vice President of LFC Financial Corporation, a project finance company.
Jean-Pierre Garnier, Ph.D. is currently CEO of Pierre Fabre. He previously served as CEO of GlaxoSmithKline from 2000 to 2008. Dr. Garnier has been a major figure in the pharmaceutical industry for more than 30 years. He currently serves on the boards of United Technologies Corporation and Eisenhower Exchange Fellowships and Stanford University Advisory Council on Interdisciplinary Biosciences.
Philip P. Gerbino, PharmaD is President of University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, which includes Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, Misher College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Health Sciences, and the College of Graduate Studies. Dr. Gerbino serves on editorial and advisory boards of pharmacy, medical and healthcare publications, and is a consultant on strategic planning, marketing, and new business development to the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. He serves on boards of private and public healthcare companies and professional and civic organizations.
Hyman R. Kahn, M.D. is a partner at the consulting firm Healthcare Executive Partners. Previously, he served as Senior Medical Director and Senior Vice President of U.S. Healthcare (Aetna). Dr. Kahn practiced internal medicine and cardiology for 22 years. He currently serves as board member of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Ben Franklin Technology Partners of SE Pennsylvania, the Abramson Center for Jewish Living, Liberty Museum, MacroArray and Immune Control. He is a member of LORE, an angel investor group, and serves on the Advisory Board of InstaMed Communications.
Stephen A. Roth, Ph.D. is currently CEO of Immune Control, an early stage biotechnology company. He was a Co-Founder, former Chairman, and CEO of Neose Technologies. Previously, Dr. Roth was Professor and Chairman of the Biology Department at University of Pennsylvania. He currently serves as member of the advisory boards of the Schools of Arts and Sciences at Case Western Reserve University and the University of Pennsylvania. He is a director of AppTec Laboratory Services and VioQuest Pharmaceuticals. Since 1978, he has been a member of the editorial board of The Quarterly Review of Biology.
Mervyn Turner, Ph.D. is currently Chief Strategy Officer of Merck & Co. and Senior Vice President, Worldwide Licensing and External Research at Merck Research Laboratories. In his role, Dr. Turner is responsible for the oversight of all of Merck's licensing activities, and for the management of academic relations. Over the last 20 years, he has held positions of increasing responsibility at Merck and has acquired a broad perspective on the issues surrounding drug discovery and development.
